Greetings LHS Softball Players and Parents,

I hope this email finds you all doing well and staying warm during these past few frigid weeks. I am emailing you today to communicate the startup of our preseason beginning January 8^th at 4:45pm at the SAU88 building. If this is the first you are hearing of this then let me apologize for the break in communication. Preseason will be conducted from January 8^th until March 17^th. We will be meeting three times a week, Monday and Wednesdays from 4:45pm to 6:30pm, and Saturdays at 9 am to 11am. There are a few exceptions to these dates listed below along with all my contact information if you should have any questions.

It is the expectation of the coaching staff that all players who intend on playing this spring attend the pre-season practice. Unless you are participating in an “in season sport” we will expect to see you there. If there is a reason you are unable to attend these practices, it should be communicated in advance the reason why you are unable to attend.

If I could please ask for everyone's assistance in forwarding this communication to all applicable student athletes / parents. If there is an email address not included on this please let me know so I can add it.

I want to thank you all for your attention this and I look forward to seeing you all at practice.

Important Dates:

•   Preseason Start Date: January 8^th ,2018.
  •   Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:45pm to 6:30 pm ( 1 hour 45 min.)
  •   Saturdays:9am to 11am (2 hours)
  •   Exception: 1/24/2018 (Wednesday), practice moved to 6:30pm – 8pm.
  •   Exception: January 20^th, Canceled.
•   Practice opportunities per month:
  •   January = 12
  •   February = 9 (not counting winter break, OFF no practice)
  •   March = 7
•   Spring Sports Parent / Coaches Meeting 3/13
  •   Coaches meet w/ AD at 5pm
  •   Parents, Players, and Coaches; Meet at 6:15pm in Cafeteria
•   Season Starts 3/19/2018
  •   Spring Break is from 4/16/2018 to 4/20/2018

Greetings Everyone,

I hope everyone is off to a great start with the first month of school behind you. I am emailing you today to recap and communicate about the individual skills development along with the plans for preseason efforts. Due to facility availability the schedule I had communicated at the start of the school, has to change. Individual skill development will end on the 20th of November. As of right now we have we have 18 days left from now until November 20th with gym space reserved.  We will be able to resume skill development in December through February on the following dates:

December: 4th, 6th, 11th, 13th, 18th, and 20th.

January: 1st, 3rd, 8th, 10th, 15th, 17th, 22nd, and 29th.

February: 5th, 12th, 19th, 21st, 26th, and 28th. 

March: I have been informed that there will be open availability.

I would like to encourage you all to please reach out and communicate your availability. I will schedule individual times at your convenience for the available dates. I must do so in advance through the athletic office so please get back to me as soon as possible. I will not reserve gym space until I have heard from those who are interested so we do not reserve a resource that someone else may need.

With regards to resources, I would like to share with you all that we have now received the batting cage and need materials to set it up in the gym. We have also received most of the other items communicated in preseason meeting.

Finally, I would like to remind everyone that these efforts being made to provide out of season support by the coaching staff is being done so based on the feedback provided by the student athletes. If there is any reasons that are keeping you from participating aside from being involved in another sport (currently) or co-curricular activity, please reach out to the coaching staff so we can help remove the barriers.

                Unfortunately, we will be canceling individual skills development for Wednesday (9/13/2017). The reason for this cancelation is that none of the coaching staff are available to attend the practice due to various unforeseeable reasons. Please accept our sincerest apologies and we will continue Thursday (9/14/2017) as planned.

Greetings Everyone,

I would like to thank everyone who was able to attend the meeting. It was great to see everyone and I greatly appreciate the feedback. The purpose of this email is to communicate the information that was presented in the meeting in addition to soliciting from those who were unable to attend, their feedback. (unfortunately I cannot attach the presentation through this media, so if you would like a copy please email me at rpettersen@sau88.net)

In receiving player’s feedback, we will be looking to adjust the schedule in the near future. If for any reason the current schedule for pitcher/ catcher practice or individual skills practice does not fit in your current schedule, please let me know what will work. We will do our utmost to try and make ourselves available. As a reminder, pitchers / catchers are meeting on Mondays and Wednesday from 4pm to 6pm. The individual skills development is Monday, Wednesday, and Thursdays, from 4pm to 6pm.

So far, we have had 5 players come in and try out our brand-new pitching machine. In addition, coach Jess Ovitt has had the opportunity to work with one of our pitchers. We did (as a coaching staff) anticipated a slow start but we are optimistic about this opportunity gaining momentum.

I want to thank you all for all your contributions in the meeting and at the practices. If there are any questions we can answer for you, please do not hesitate to ask.

Greetings LHS Softball Enthusiasts,
I am emailing you today to communicate the schedule and location of individual skill development opportunities. Currently we (the coaching staff) will be offering focused instruction in pitching, catcher skills, and batting practice. The pitching and catchers portion will be offered every Monday and Wednesday from 4pm to 6pm at the SAU building (20 Seminary Hill, West Lebanon), from August 28th to November 10th??. The batting practice portion will be held simultaneously on Monday and Wednesdays from 4pm to 6pm and on Thursdays at the same time. The Thursday batting practices will be reserved for pitchers and catchers to receive priority. I have attached a link to a spread sheet for sign ups in google sheets. If there is an issue accessing the link through this communication, I have also emailed this communication to the students SAU email accounts. Please be sure to sign up prior to the day of the time slot you are interested in attending. A coach will be at that location at the time of the practice. If there is no one signed up, then at the time of the practice the coach will make the determination to cancel the session.  

The following is an overview of focuses for the preseason
Aug - Sep: Pitchers / Catchers / Batting Practice
Oct-Dec: Pitchers/ Catchers and Infield / Outfield
Jan - Mar: Pitchers / Catchers / Batting Practice

During these individual skills development sessions, I would like to invite student athletes from the middle school level to participate as well if interested. I feel this would provide great learning environment where students can work collaboratively to share knowledge and develop together.
